Fraud Prevention Policy

First: Purpose

This Policy aims to protect the Tajarat Platform, Merchants, and Customers from the risks of fraud and unlawful activities and to establish a unified framework for detecting, preventing, and addressing fraud in a manner that safeguards commercial operations and preserves users' trust.

Second: Scope of Application

This Policy applies to:

All Platform employees.

Merchants.

Customers.

Service providers.

Partners.

Any person using the Platform's services.

Third: Policy Objectives

This Policy aims to:

Prevent fraud before it occurs.

Detect suspicious transactions at an early stage.

Protect the funds of Customers and Merchants.

Protect user data.

Reduce financial losses.

Comply with relevant laws and regulations.

Fourth: Definition of Fraud

Fraud means any act or omission carried out with the intent to obtain an unlawful benefit or cause harm to the Platform, Customers, Merchants, or any other party, including through deception, misrepresentation, or misuse of systems.

Fifth: Forms of Fraud

Forms of fraud include, without limitation, the following:

First: Account Fraud

Creating fictitious accounts.

Impersonating another person.

Using falsified information.

Using stolen accounts.

Second: Payment Fraud

Using unlawful payment methods.

Fraudulent chargebacks.

Using stolen cards.

Obtaining refunds without entitlement.

Third: Product Fraud

Selling counterfeit products.

Selling products that do not exist.

Misleading Customers about specifications.

Reselling returned products as new.

Fourth: Technical Fraud

Compromising accounts.

Misusing application programming interfaces (APIs).

Automated bots.

Cyberattacks targeting the Platform or its users.

Sixth: Indicators of Suspicion

Indicators of suspicion include, for example:

Multiple accounts for the same person without justification.

A sudden change in sales patterns.

An unusual increase in returns or chargebacks.

Use of high-risk IP addresses or devices.

Repeated failed login attempts.

Repeated Customer complaints about the same Merchant.

Submission of documents that appear inaccurate or inconsistent.

The existence of any one of these indicators is not conclusive evidence of fraud; rather, it requires review and appropriate action.

Seventh: Preventive Measures

The Platform adopts a number of preventive measures, including:

Verification of Merchant identity (KYC).

Verification of documents and licences.

Review of high-risk transactions.

Use of fraud-detection tools.

Periodic transaction monitoring.

Training employees to identify fraud indicators.

Eighth: Procedures for Handling Suspicion

Where a fraudulent transaction is suspected, the Platform may take one or more of the following actions, depending on the nature of the case:

Suspend the transaction under suspicion.

Request additional information or documents.

Temporarily suspend the account.

Delay the financial settlement associated with the transaction.

Refer the case to the compliance team or legal department.

Notify the competent authorities where legally required.

The Platform observes the principle of proportionality and, where appropriate and without compromising the integrity of the investigation, allows the affected party to provide an explanation.

Ninth: Internal Investigation

The Platform will conduct an objective review of any suspected case. As needed, this may include:

Collecting evidence.

Reviewing electronic records.

Examining documents.

Communicating with relevant parties.

Documenting investigation findings.

All information is treated confidentially and access is restricted to authorised persons.

Tenth: Responsibilities of the Parties

Platform Responsibilities

Develop fraud-detection tools.

Review reports.

Protect data.

Update anti-fraud controls.

Cooperate with competent authorities.

Merchant Responsibilities

Provide accurate information.

Report any suspicious activity.

Protect login credentials.

Cooperate in investigations.

Comply with Platform policies.

Eleventh: Reporting Fraud

Any user may report suspected fraudulent activity through the Platform's official channels.

The Platform will review reports and take the necessary action while preserving the confidentiality of the reporting person's identity to the extent permitted by law.

Twelfth: Policy Review

This Policy is reviewed periodically or whenever necessary and may be amended to reflect legal, technical, or operational developments.
